Internet Protocol (IP)
IP is the dominant networking protocol of the Internet, and most companies support it. When you add your Pipeline 220 to your IP network, you must give each of the two Ethernet interfaces of the Pipeline 220 a unique IP address so it can communicate locally and over the Internet.
Because IP addresses must be unique across the entire Internet, every Internet Service Provider (ISP) and company that communicates across the Internet is assigned a block of valid IP addresses by an ISP or the Internet Network Information Center (InterNIC).
See your network administrator for an assigned IP address and netmask for each Ethernet interface of the Pipeline 220 you connect to your network.
In addition, see your network administrator for additional parameters that help IP communication: a Domain Name, Domain Name Server (DNS), and default gateway. Typically, all these parameters are required for correct Internet communication.
