The GRF™ family of high-performance IP switches includes the GRF 400 and the GRF 1600— cost-effective Layer-3 switches designed especially for demanding Points of Presence and backbone networking environments. The GRF's unique architecture combines switching with IP Forwarding Media Cards to deliver scalable performance up to 10 million packets per second. Depending on the system, the GRF can hold up to 16 media cards providing as much as 16 Gb/s of bandwidth for high-powered NAP, backbone and MegaPOP™ applications.

The GRF easily integrates into existing networks using industry standard media types such as HSSI, 10/100Base-T, ATM OC-3c, IP/SONET OC-3c, ATM OC-12c, FDDI and HIPPI. It supports a robust suite of routing protocols including multicast, BGP4 and IS-IS. In addition, network managers can be assured that their system will be continuously up and running. The hot-swappable, redundant load-balancing power supplies and hot-swappable IP Forwarding Media Cards let network administrators maintain the system without interrupting user operations.

• The GRF 400 is a Layer-3 IP switch with 4 Gb/s to process 2.8 million pps and support as many as four IP Forwarding Media Cards.
