Rate Adaptive Asymmetric Digital Subscriber
Line (RADSL) COE and CPE Products Added to Ascend's MultiDSL Family

With the introduction of RADSL, Ascend's MultiDSL solution
allows the launching of multiple end-to-end DSL solutions tailored
to customers needs, using carrier-class Ascend MAX access switches
at the central office and Ascend Pipeline and DSLPipe products
at remote sites.
Rate Adaptive ADSL (RADSL) features

Optimizes line speeds to the best for the given operating conditions

Transmits data downstream from the CO to the subscriber at speeds
up to 7.0 Mbps and upstream up to 1.0 Mbps at distances up to
10,000 feet

Transmits data downstream from the CO to the subscriber at speeds
up to 640 Kbps and upstream up to 544 Kbps at distances up to
17,000 feet

Lifeline POTS
-
Both Central Office Equipment (COE) and Customer Premise Equipment
(COE) provided
-
Employs Carrierless Amplitude Phase (CAP) modulation technique*
*Ascend expects to introduce RADSL
products based on Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT) modulation technique
later this year.
