6.13	LDAP Telephone Directory

Definition

Depending on the system configuration, all telephones with a display (optiPoint and OpenStage) can access directory information (station number and name) that is provided by an LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) server. The data stored on the LDAP server can be retrieved and displayed by means of alphanumeric searches. A call number can be selected from the search results and used for the outgoing call.

An LDAP server is a PC-based application which enables access to a database via the LDAP protocol. To access the server using HiPath 3000, you will need a (node-internal) HG1500 board that communicates with the LDAP server via the LAN interface and an IP network.

The procedure for accessing LDAP directory data is initiated using the familiar menu item "Directory" or a programmed key. Depending on the system configuration, you must select either the internal telephone directory or the LDAP directory via the menu.

After selecting the "Directory" option from the menu, you can directly enter the name of the party you want to reach by selecting the "GSM/Cellphone procedure". To do this, press the key containing the letter you wish to access. Press the key once to access the first letter, twice to access the second letter, and three times to access the third letter (the one farthest to the right). All the letters of the name can be entered consecutively in the display. Click "Search" to search the LDAP directory for the specified name.

One of the following error messages appears on the display of the device that sends the query (optiPoint, OpenStage) if a search query for an LDAP server is not answered or if there is a problem:

•	"Server Unreachable"

•	"Server Busy"

•	"Server Error"

The HG 1500 board also provides an error report via Event Log/Customer Trace and SNMP Trap (configurable).

The error message "No results" is displayed if no results are returned by a search.

The options in the dialog menu allow you to select the required name from the list of displayed results and dial the corresponding destination number directly. You can also select a name using the " +/-" keys.

The following additional options are available to OpenStage users (except for OpenStage 10 and OpenStage 20) via the display:

•	Dial softkey: dials the number beside the cursor.

•	Details softkey: retrieves entries for the highlighted name.

•	End softkey: closes the LDAP phonebook.

•	Scrollbar: for scrolling down the list if more than six names are displayed.

Display

The name information provided by the LDAP server is not displayed in ringing or call status.

The call numbers for incoming calls are also not replaced by the name information provided by the LDAP server (as when call numbers are replaced by SSD names).

DID number

a HiPath 3000 subscriber can only be reached from the LDAP directory if a DID number has been configured for that subscriber which corresponds to the entry in the LDAP database.

Call numbers provided by the LDAP server can only be routed within the network if the internal call number and the DID number are identical.

LDAP version

LDAP Version 3.0 functions without authentication only,
However, Version 2.0 offers this function.
