Emergency calls, special numbers, fax and modem

However, the customer must first check if the provider supports faxes as well as routing emergency calls and special numbers. Fax connections over the Internet are technically possible, but for reasons of stability, faxes should be routed over analog or digital connections. Faxes can be sent using the T.38 protocol. An additional POTS or ISDN trunk connection increases failure tolerance.
Special numbers and emergency numbers as well as fax and modem connections that are not supported by some providers are routed via ISDN connections.
