En-bloc dialing

Definition  
With en-bloc dialing, the digits dialed are combined to form a block, stored in the system, and forwarded when they are recognized as complete.
If no additional digits are entered within a certain period (timer: End of Dial on Incomplete dialing; the default time is 15 seconds), the system interprets the last number entered as the last digit in the number block. When the timer expires (when the last dialed digit is recognized), dialing automatically begins. Dialing can also be started manually by entering the end-of-dialing code (#).
CorNet-N, NQ, and QSig supports block dialing as well as digit-by-digit dialing (definition Q931). In the U.S., CO block dialing is mandatory for primary rate access. This is not the case in Europe where EDSS1 is based on Q931.
