Updating Software for the OpenStage TDM Telephone Service |
Overview |
| OpenStage TDM telephones and OpenStage TDM Extenders that are connected to a HiPath 3000 system can be updated locally or remotely to a new software version. The new software application is loaded onto the HiPath 3000 with Manager E and then loaded onto the system's MMC. |
| In OpenStage 60 T and OpenStage 80 T telephones, the software can also be updated directly at the telephone with a USB stick. |

10.1.6.1 |
Updating Software with Manager E (Manual, Automatic) |
| Once this step is complete, the update operation can be initiated automatically or manually from Manager E. An entry in the customer database permits or denies automatic software updates. If updates are permitted, you can choose either an immediate or scheduled update. In the case of the former, the telephones are reset and updated if they are ready to be loaded; in the case of the latter, they are reset and updated on a specific day. |
| This automatic procedure only updates telephones with an older software version; telephones with a newer version remain unchanged. |
| The manual update is initiated on Manager E using orders; these offer three update options: immediate, scheduled or during the next reset; they also offer an option for selecting specific telephones. Downgrading to an older software version can only be performed with orders. |
| To minimize the impact on ongoing telephone calls, the software update is split into different stages; first the software is downloaded from the MMC to a telephone and then copied from telephone to telephone in the B channel. The download operation itself does not affect the telephone user. (Exception: master/slave configurations only support one call during a download operation.) |
| The current status of the TDM OpenStage software update can be checked on Manager E. An update log file is also saved on the MMC and can be read over Manager E. |
10.1.6.2 |
Updating Software Manually via a USB Stick |
| In OpenStage 60 T and OpenStage 80 T telephones, the software can be updated via a USB stick. |
Recommended USB sticks |
| The telephone is unable to detect some USB sticks. If this happens, try a different type or a different manufacturer. |
| The following USB sticks have been tested and are recommended: |
Procedure |
| 1. | Insert an empty USB stick into a USB port on your PC. There must be no data on the USB stick. |
| 2. | Copy the official software package OS_HI_TDM_V1_R3_13_0.bin and the file prepare.img to the root directory on the USB stick. |
| 3. | Remove the USB stick from your PC's USB port. |
| 4. | Disconnect the telephone from the power supply. |
| 5. | Plug the USB stick into the master USB port on the telephone using a standard USB connection cable. |
| 6. | Connect the telephone to the power supply. If the telephone correctly detects the USB stick, the following text will appear on the display: |
SLBL: 1.1.0_0013_hs
|
BOOT:1.3.1_0013_hs_nand128
|
AUX power detected
|
USB mass storage device detected
|
Enter update code: _
|
| 7. | Enter the update code "0167" via the programmable touch/sensor keys beside the display. |
|
| Once the update code has been entered: |
| • | If the data entered is incorrect: The telephone continues the boot procedure. |
| • | If the data entered is correct: The update procedure starts - the update progress can be followed on the display. |
| The update procedure is successfully completed when the following text appears: |
Update script succeeded.
|
Copy logs to USB stick ... done.
|
Unmounting USB device and exit
|
Please remove USB device to reboot!
|
| The update procedure places a number of log files in the log folder on the USB stick. |
| 8. | Remove the USB stick from the telephone. If the update is successful, the telephone restarts automatically to load the new software. |
10.1.6.3 |
Accessing Hardware and Software Version Information |
| The hardware version (Siemens part number) and the software version of the OpenStage telephones are saved in the customer database and can be accessed by Manager E. |
10.1.6.4 |
Accessing the Update Log File |
| OpenStage TDM telephones and the Extender keep an update log file that can be called up with Manager E for maintenance purposes. |
